Summary

Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs and cycles. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, magnifying glass, soft toy and communication cards.
  • You can borrow these from the stableyard visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: mobility scooters. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

  • There are children's bikes available to borrow.
    There is an accessible bus that goes to the stableyard and back from the overflow car park on busy days only.

Route to (the Woodland Playground and Adventure Playground)

  • From the main car park exit via the slope at the rear of the area.
    Go through the open gap and the woodland playground will be ahead.
    Turn right and follow the path up. The adventure playground is on the left.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, loose wood chippings and gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.

Outdoor Spaces (Woodland Playground)

  • This information is for the access point located to the rear of the main car park.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: a playground with play equipment.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: wood bark.
  • Footpaths are not available in all of the outdoor space.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • Playground View
    • There is a route around the play equipment which is not firm and even, but is over 150cm wide.
    • The play equipment is not in easy reach for a range of users.
    • The following play experiences are available: swinging, rocking, climbing, balancing and crawling.

Outdoor Spaces (Adventure Playground)

  • This information is for the access point located to the rear of the main car park.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: a playground with play equipment.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: rubber tarmac and grass.
  • Footpaths are not available in all of the outdoor space.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • Bench seating is available.
  • Playground View
    • There is a route around the play equipment which is firm and even, and is at least 150cm wide.
    • The play equipment is not in easy reach for a range of users.
    • The following play experiences are available: swinging, sliding, climbing and balancing.

Picnic Area (Adventure Playground)

  • The following information describes the picnic area located within the adventure playground area.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There are picnic tables.
  • No chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • Adapted picnic tables are available.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 77cm.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 77cm.
  • The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to compacted earth and gravel.
