Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

- You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: a tramper. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance.

- There are charges to borrow a tramper.
- A volunteer driven buggy shuttle is available to transport between the visitor centre and castle.
Wheelchair users will need to transfer from their chair.
Route to (the Estate)
- Exit the visitor centre and go back to the main car park. From here walk back along the drive following signs for Teign Valley Walks.
At the information board on the right, turn left down to a gate which has an opening width of 140cm. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, tarmac and muddy.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located before you reach the car park on the left.
- Access into the area is via steep ramps/slopes.
- The slope is over 150cm wide.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens away from you (push).
- The gate is self-closing.
- The width of the gap is 140cm.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: open countryside.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and compact earth.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- Steep slopes are in various locations throughout the outdoor space.
- There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
- The paths have gates which may create obstacles for some users.
- There are picnic facilities throughout the area.
Hikes and Trails
- The trail is approximately 1 mile long.
- Exit the visitor centre and go back to the main car park. From here walk back along the drive following signs for Teign Valley Walks.
At the information board on the right turn left down to a gate which has a width of 140cm.
After the gate turn left across the top of the common following the tramper markers.
You will pass through another gate with a width of 115cm.
Continue along this track until you come to a fork, take the left path signed Dolly Seat.
There is a seat here to enjoy the view and an area for a tramper to park safely.
After Dolly Seat, tramper users will need to retrace their route back to the main car park. - The hike is not open 24 hours.
- None of the paths are lit at night.
- The route includes the following surfaces: tarmac, grass, gravel, compacted gravel and mud.
- Some of the route contains steep gradients.
- These are found in the following areas: in various locations along the route.
- There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
- The route is clearly signposted.
- The route has information boards with large maps and handheld maps.
- Seating is available on the route.
- There are no toilet facilities along the route.
