Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.

Route to (the Bookshop)

  • Follow the path from the visitor reception.
    Continue ahead at the fork and the courtyard entrance will be on the left.
    Once through the courtyard entrance the bookshop is on the left.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are gravel and cobbles.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.

Shop

  • Access into the shop is via a step.
  • There is 1 step, which is unmarked, with no handrails.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 106cm.
  • Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of more than 1.5cm.
  • The majority of aisle widths are under 150cm.
  • Flooring in the shop is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to carpet.
  • There is step-free level access around the shop.
  • There is background noise here which varies, depending on the time of day.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There is step-free level access to the counter.
  • The height of the counter is 75cm.
