Route to (the Granary Kiosk)

  • From the visitor reception follow the pathway around to the right and walk towards the manor house.
    Proceed ahead, passing the second-hand bookshop on the left.
    Continue ahead towards the walled courtyard to a slightly sloped entrance.
    Enter the courtyard and the Granary Kiosk is located to the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, concrete and gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
  • There is also an alternative stepped (one step) entrance to the courtyard.

Picnic Area (Courtyard)

  • The following information describes the picnic area located in the courtyard outside the entrance to the Granary Kiosk.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide.
  • There are picnic tables.
  • No chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • Adapted picnic tables are available.
  • The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 74cm.
  • The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to uneven paving/tiles and cobbles.

Entrance (Service Counter)

  • The entrance surveyed is located to the left of the entrance slope.
  • There is step-free access via slope at the entrance.
  • The slight slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is a single manual door which is permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 109cm.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of more than 1.5cm.

Entrance (Seating Area)

  • The entrance surveyed is located to the right of the entrance slope.
  • There is step-free access via slope at the entrance.
  • The slight slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is a single manual door which is permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 109cm.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of less than 1.5cm.

Eating and Drinking

  • This is a café which serves hot and cold meals and snacks.
  • There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
  • Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
  • Menu types include: written wall menus and menu boards.
  • The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, easy grip cutlery, takeaway cutlery, a portable card machine for payment and large-handled mugs.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
  • There is a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
  • The hearing assistance system was tested and working at the time of the survey.
  • The counter is 85cm high.
  • There is step-free level access around the seating area.
  • There are tables, bench seats and chairs with armrests available in the seating area.
  • The seating area does not have: room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm), a priority table and a mixture of chairs with and without armrests.
  • Tables are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
  • The surface height of the tables is 76cm.
  • All flooring in the area is smooth and even.

Entrance (Toilet Block)

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the rear of the Granary Kiosk.
  • There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
  • The slight ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with a handrail on the left going up.
  • There is a single manual door which is permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 87cm.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of less than 1.5cm.

Toilet with Adaptations (Toilet Block - Rear of Courtyard - Ambulant - Right Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located in the toilet block to the rear of the Granary Kiosk.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • This toilet is approximately 4m from the toilet block entrance.
  • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 78cm.
  • The door has a hook lock.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 143cm x 217cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
  • The lateral transfer space is 75cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a lever flush on the transfer side.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
  • The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder, wash basin and soap dispenser.
  • The following fixtures cannot be reached from the toilet seat: hand dryer.
  • The height of the toilet seat above floor level is 48cm.

  • The cubicle has: a sanitary bin, a pedal bin and a padded back rest for seat.
  • The cubicle does not have a full length mirror.
  • The height of the coat hook is 110cm from the floor.
  • The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: the internal door and the floor.
  • The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: the dropdown rail, the toilet seat and all grab rails.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.

Standard Toilet (Toilet Block - Rear of Courtyard)

  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 76cm.
  • Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
  • The female toilet was surveyed.
  • There is also a male toilet in the same location.
  • The width of the widest cubicle door opening is 79cm.
  • The wash basin tap type is twist/turn.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There are hand dryers.

Parent and Baby Room / Baby Feeding Room (Toilet Block - Rear of Courtyard)

  • There is step-free level access into the room.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 77cm.
  • Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
  • The height of the baby change table is 88cm.
  • The wash basin tap type is twist/turn.
  • There is a chair without armrests available in the room.
  • Waste bins include: a nappy bin and a general waste bin without lid.
