  • This is an open air car park with a gravel surface.
  • Parking is free for National Trust members and Blue Badge holders, but charges apply for all other visitors.
  • There are clearly presented payment signs.
  • Maps and information boards are available.
  • There are 6 Blue Badge parking bays.
  • The dimensions of the designated Blue Badge parking bay(s) surveyed are 350cm x 390cm.
  • There is no hatched zone.
  • The nearest Blue Badge bay is 8m from the welcome hut.
  • Obstacles from the car park include: uneven surfaces, loose chippings and a lack of pedestrian walkways to cross the car park.
  • There are not parent and child parking bays available.
  • There is a designated drop-off point without a dropped kerb.
  • It may be possible to use an unmarked drop-off point near the visitor centre. Please speak to a member staff for more information.

Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • Equipment cannot be borrowed or hired.
  • You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: trampers. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • You can borrow these from the welcome hut or visitor centre. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • There are two trampers available to borrow. It is advisable to book these in advance.

Visitor Reception (Welcome Hut)

  • Access into the area is via steps.
  • There are 2 steps, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 91cm.
  • Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • The majority of aisle widths are under 150cm.
  • There is no room for wheelchair users to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) within the majority of the area.
  • All flooring is smooth and even.
  • There are tables, bench seats and chairs without armrests available in the visitor reception.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • Staff will come out to greet visitors.
    The interior of the welcome hut is used for visitors who wish to sign up as members of the National Trust, however, this can be done outside.
