- The standard toilets surveyed can be found to the left (male) and the right (female) of the kiosk.
Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- Equipment cannot be borrowed or hired.
- You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: trampers. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from the welcome hut or visitor centre. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- There are two trampers available to borrow. It is advisable to book these in advance.
Route to (the Kiosk)
- Take the vehicle track to the left of the welcome hut. Follow this for approximately 500 metres.
The kiosk is on the right.
There are steep slopes and uneven ground along this route. - The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are gravel, muddy, paving stones and bonded gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Eating and Drinking
- This is a kiosk which serves hot and cold snacks.
- Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
- The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
- Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
- Menu types include: written wall menus and menu boards.
- Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
- The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, takeaway cutlery and a portable card machine for payment.
- There is no (or very little) background noise here.
- There is a hearing assistance system which is not signed.
- The hearing assistance system was tested, however it was not working at the time of the survey.
- There is a counter over 85cm high without a tray rail.
- The counter is 108cm high.
- There is not a section of the counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
Picnic Area
- The following information describes the picnic area located opposite the kiosk.
- Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
- The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide.
- There are picnic tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are not available.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 64cm.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 64cm.
- The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to compacted earth and grass.
Toilet with Adaptations (Kiosk - Ambulant - Left Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located to the right of the kiosk.
- Access into the toilet is via a steep ramp/slope.
- The ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 85cm.
- The door has a locking handle.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 182cm x 210cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat but it is obstructed.
- The lateral transfer space is 117cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
- There is a spatula flush on the non transfer side.
- The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and a vertical rail on the left side of the wash basin.
- There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
- The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder.

- There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
- The width of the widest cubicle door opening is 64cm.
- There is an ambulant cubicle available with a horizontal grab rail on the left.

Standard Toilet (Kiosk - Male)

- There are 4 steps, which are unmarked, with handrails on both sides.
- The door is manual, permanently held open and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 80cm.
- Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
- The width of the widest cubicle door opening is 65cm.
- There is an ambulant cubicle available with a horizontal grab rail on the left.
- The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
