  • There are 10+ steps, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • This access point is the most direct path from the car park for the trail to Bowder Stone.
    The steps and steep slope can be avoided via the slight slope that runs along the road from the B5289 to the car park.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: woodland and open countryside.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac, gravel, compact earth, uncompacted earth and loose stones.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no step-free level access around the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails and more than 3 steps with handrails in the main areas.
  • The slight slopes run along the roads and some paths around the Bowder Stone area.
    There is a metal staircase, with 10+ steps and handrails leading to the top of Bowder Stone.

Hikes and Trails (to Bowder Stone)

  • The trail is approximately 600 metres long.
  • This trail leads from the B5289 lay-by, adjacent to the Bowder Stone car park, through the woodland and to Bowder Stone.
  • The hike is open 24 hours.
  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: loose chippings, gravel and compacted gravel.
  • Some of the route contains steep gradients.
  • These are found in the following areas: along parts of the main trail through the woodland.
  • There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
  • The route is not clearly signposted.
  • The route has information boards with large maps and online maps.
  • Seating is not available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.
  • From the Bowder Stone trail access point the trail surface is mostly even, with some slight and steep slopes at points. These slopes cannot be avoided.
