Summary

Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs and a mountain trike. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
- A wheeled walker is also available from the car park.
Route to (Furnace Meadow)
- After exiting visitor reception, follow the level path round to the far end of Pin Mill then descend the increasingly steep gravel slope down into the dell.
Cross the bridge, turn left and follow the path uphill.
The meadow will be on the right. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are gravel, grass, paving stones and rubber matting.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located overlooking The Dell on the western side of the gardens.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and compact earth.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- There are steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas .
- There are steep slopes throughout the meadow.
- There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
