Access Guide
Summary

- The most accessible entrance has steps, a steep ramp/slope (which bypasses any steps) and automatic doors.

Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs and a mountain trike. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
- A wheeled walker is also available from the car park.
Exit (Visitor Reception)
- The exit is located on the opposite side of the visitor reception.
- There is step-free access via ramp at the exit.
- There are double automatic doors which open away from you.
- There is a steep ramp between 75cm and 150cm wide beyond the exit, with handrails on both sides.
- The ramp overcomes the steps.
- There are 6 steps beyond the exit, which are unmarked, with handrails on both sides.
- Steps are split with a resting area.
- The handrails cover all steps.
- All steps at the recommended height of between 15cm and 18cm.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located after exiting visitor reception.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, block paving and gravel.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are steep ramps/slopes without handrails, less than 3 steps without handrails, slight ramps/slopes without handrails and more than 3 steps without handrails in the main areas .
- There are slight and steep slopes, as well as steps throughout the garden.
The steps can be avoided by using the sloped pathways. - There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Picnic Area
