- Toilet and changing facilities available include: a toilet with some adaptations and standard toilets.
- This toilet with adaptations for disabled people is approximately 16m from the Dell Kiosk.
- The standard toilet surveyed can be found to the left of the kiosk.
Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs and a mountain trike. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
- A wheeled walker is also available from the car park.
Route to (the Dell Kiosk)
- After exiting visitor reception, follow the level path round to the far end of Pin Mill, then descend the increasingly steep gravel slope down into the dell. Cross the bridge, turn left and kiosk will be ahead.
- The route to the area is step-free level, is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are gravel, grass and rubber matting.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Eating and Drinking
- This is a kiosk which serves snacks and ice cream.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
- Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
- Menu types include: written wall menus.
- Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
- The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups and easy grip cutlery.
- There is background noise here which varies, depending on the time of day.
- There is a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
- The hearing assistance system was tested and working at the time of the survey.
- There is a counter over 85cm high without a tray rail.
- The counter is 103cm high.
- There is not a section of the counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.

Toilet with Adaptations (Dell Kiosk - Ambulant - Left Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located to the left of the kiosk.
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- This toilet is approximately 16m from the kiosk.
- There is pictorial and ‘Not All Disabilities Are Visible’ signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 88cm.
- The door has a locking handle.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 185cm x 188cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat but it is obstructed.
- The lateral transfer space is 167cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
- There is a spatula flush on the transfer side.
- The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
- There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
- The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder, wash basin and soap dispenser.

Standard Toilet (Dell Kiosk)

- The door is manual, permanently held open and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 79cm.
- Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of more than 1.5cm.
- The male and female standard toilets were surveyed.
- The width of the widest cubicle door opening is 56cm.
- The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There are hand dryers.
