Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- You can borrow these from the tickets and information building. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Shop)
- Pass to the right of the tickets and information building and turn left towards the rear patio of the Wharf Tea-room.
The entrance to the shop is ahead on the left. - The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are gravel and paving stones.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
- There is an additional entrance to the shop directly from the car park. This entrance provides stepped access.
Shop
- Access into the shop is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 119cm.
- The majority of aisle widths are over 150cm.
- All flooring in the shop is smooth and even.
- There is step-free level access around the shop.
- There is no (or very little) background noise here.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There is step-free level access to the counter.
- The height of the counter is 90cm.
- There is not a low level counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- The counter has windows, TVs, glazed screens or mirrors which could adversely affect the ability of someone to lip read.
- The counter has a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
- The hearing assistance system was tested and working at the time of the survey.
- Services/facilities available in the shop include: a portable card machine for payment and a member of staff to provide assistance.
Entrance (Alternative Shop Entrance from Car Park)
- The entrance surveyed is located at the side of the shop facing the car park.
- There is stepped access at the entrance.
- There are 5 steps, which are unmarkedhandrails on both sides.
- The handrails cover all steps.
- There is a single manual door which opens away from you.
- The width of the opening is 96cm.
