Route to (Farmyard)

  • Follow the path to the right as you exit the visitor centre. Once you reach the road turn right and follow it until you come across a path with two bollards. Continue down that path to the main property gates. Proceed through the gates and continue ahead and the farmyard entrance will be on the right, just before the east wing.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are gravel and paving stones.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Parking (Farmyard)

  • This site has a car park.
  • The vehicle route from the main road to the car park includes: uneven surfaces and potholes.
  • This is an open air car park with a tarmac and gravel surface.
  • Parking is free for National Trust members and Blue Badge holders, but charges apply for all other visitors.
  • There are not clearly presented payment signs.
  • Maps and information boards are not available.
  • There are 6 Blue Badge parking bays.
  • The dimensions of the designated Blue Badge parking bay(s) surveyed are 230cm x 479cm.
  • There is a hatched zone on both sides but not to the rear.
  • There are not parent and child parking bays available.

Entrance (Farmyard)

  • The entrance surveyed is located off the main approach to the hall.
  • There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
  • The slight ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with handrails on both sides.
  • The ramp overcomes the steps.
  • There are 5 steps, which are unmarked, with handrails on both sides.
  • The handrails cover all steps.
  • All of the steps are not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
  • There is an opening without doors .

Equipment and Resources to Borrow

Picnic Area (Farmyard)

  • The following information describes the picnic area located off the farmyard.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There are picnic tables.
  • No chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • Adapted picnic tables are not available.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 70cm.
  • The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 75cm.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • Some of the surface in the picnic area in the area is smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to gravel.

Changing Places (Farmyard - Peninsular Transfer)

  • Location and Access View
    • The facility is additional to standard and accessible toilets, and is located close to other managed facilities.
    • There is step-free level access into the facility.
    • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
    • A RADAR key is required for access to this facility.
    • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
    • The width of the door opening is 89cm.
    • The door has a locking handle.
    • Internally the door has a medium colour contrast.
    • The door has a horizontal grab rail.
    • The dimensions of the facility are 377cm x 281cm.
    • The ceiling height is not at a minimum height of 2.4m and there is a clear 200cm x 180cm manoeuvring space in the facility.
    • The facility has a non-slip floor.
  • Toilet Details View
    • There are lateral transfer spaces on both sides of the seat but the left side is obstructed.

  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 83cm.
  • The door has a lever twist lock.
  • Internally the door has a medium colour contrast.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 174cm x 258cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat.
  • The lateral transfer space is 94cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a lever flush on the non transfer side.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
  • The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder and towel dispenser.
