Route to (the Geological Gallery)

  • Go right at the visitor reception and through the access gates facing you.
    The path goes around to the left.
    G Go past the large gates on the left and turn left up the path after the gates, taking you across the tennis lawn where you will be facing the lake and house.
    Turn right on the path, through the tunnel going through the Pinetum.
    At the end of the Pinetum go up 3 steps into the Egyptian tunnel turning left, and down 2 steps into the Egyptian court.
    Exit right and continue on this path up the steps and follow the path to the right to the Geological Gallery.
    There is a continual gradient throughout.
  • The route to the area includes more than 3 steps without a handrail.
  • Path surfaces along the route are gravel, paving stones and bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.

Entrance (Geological Gallery)

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the building.
  • There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
  • The slight ramp is under 75cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is a single manual door which is permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 94cm.

Tour

  • The tour is self-guided but volunteers/staff are available to provide additional information.
  • There is step-free level access throughout the tour.
  • The majority of walkway widths are over 180cm.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise along the tour route.
  • Tour information includes the following formats: information booklets.
  • The tour does not have a hearing assistance system.
  • There are bench seats and chairs without armrests at regular intervals along the tour.
  • All flooring along the tour route is smooth and even.
  • Some of the flooring includes large repeating patterns in bold colours, which may look like steps or holes to some people.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good throughout the tour route.
