Route to (the Gardens and Grounds - Accessible Route)
- Using the pathway to the right of the visitor centre, proceed for approximately 250m to the bottom of the road.
At the bottom of the pathway turn left and go through the opening.
Proceed along the path, passing the tennis courts and bowling green.
The pathway brings you out in front of the house and lake.
At the lake take the pathway right, which leads onto the pathway to enter the gardens.
Go through the tunnels and the garden grounds.
This route is over 800m.
The pathways have slight slopes on the route to the gardens. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are compact earth and gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
- The Italian Garden and Dahlia Walk are the only areas of the Western Terrace that are accessible for wheelchair users.
The remaining areas of the Western Terrace are stepped.
Outdoor Spaces (China Garden)
- This information is for the access point located along the pathways to the gardens, opposite the lake.
- Access into the area is via steps, a slight ramp/slope and a steep ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There are 10+ steps, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: formal gardens and gardens.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac, block paving, gravel and bonded gravel.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no step-free level access around the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails, steep ramps/slopes without handrails and more than 3 steps without handrails in the main areas.

Go through the tunnel to the right and the space opens out to the woodland walk.
The walk is over 800m and leads to the Cheshire Cottage. - There is open access at the surveyed access point.

- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: gravel and compact earth.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor spaces.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- There are slight slopes on the footpaths in the Quoit grounds.
- There are not any bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Attraction / Exhibit (Cheshire Cottage)
- Access into the area is via steps and a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There are 2 steps, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
- The entrance and exit for this area are under 75cm wide.
- The majority of walkway widths are over 180cm.
