Summary

Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

- With there only being one electric tramper, it is advised to book in advance.
Route to (the Old Servants' Tea-room)
- From the visitor reception there is a pathway towards the hall.
Take the right hand path towards the walled garden and the rear of the hall.
There is a turn to the right which takes you into the stables area courtyard.
The tea-room is on the left as you enter the courtyard. - The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, tarmac and bonded gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.
Picnic Area (Courtyard)
- The following information describes the picnic area located in the courtyard.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There are tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to gravel.

- The facility is not additional to standard and accessible toilets, and is located close to other managed facilities.
- There is step-free level access into the facility.
- There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 84cm.
- The door has a twist lock.
- The door has a horizontal grab rail.
- The ceiling height is at a minimum height of 2.4m and there is a clear 200cm x 180cm manoeuvring space in the facility.
- The facility has not got a non-slip floor.

- There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat.
- The transfer space on the right as you face the toilet is 150cm.
- The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door.
- There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
- The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: all grab rails, the floor and the toilet seat.
- The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: the dropdown rail and the internal door.
- The toilet seat is 48cm above the floor.
- There is a spatula flush on the transfer side.
- There a pull cord emergency alarm but it is not at a recommended height (within 10cm from floor).

- There is also a female toilet in the same location.
- The width of the widest cubicle door opening is 60cm.

- Lighting levels are moderate to good.

Entrance (Tea-room)
- The entrance surveyed is located on the left after you enter the courtyard.
- There is stepped access at the entrance.
- There is a single manual door which is permanently open.
- There is a second manual door which opens away from you.
- There are 7 steps beyond the entrance, which are unmarked, with a handrail on the right going down.
- The handrail covers all steps.
Eating and Drinking
- This is a tea room which serves hot and cold snacks.
- There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
- Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
- Menu types include: written wall menus and menu boards.
- Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
- The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, two handled cups, easy grip cutlery, takeaway cutlery and large-handled mugs.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There is background noise here which varies, depending on the time of day.
- There is a clearly signed hearing assistance system.

- There is a counter over 85cm high with a tray rail.
