Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, magnifying glass and activity sheets.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Parkland)
- Take the exit from the visitor centre and then the open gated entrance to the parkland at the clocktower.
The pathway proceeds through the trees with a turning off towards the house and a pathway through the parkland and garden. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are paving stones.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- The access points to the area are located from the courtyard by the visitor reception and from the car park.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
- The gate is not self-closing.
- The gate has a padlock.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: parkland, woodland and formal gardens.
- The outdoor facilities also include: picnic areas.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac, wood bark, grass and gravel.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas .
- There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Picnic Area
- The following information describes the picnic area located near to the house.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There are picnic tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are available.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 72cm.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 74cm.
- The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 78cm.
- The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to grass.
