Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, sunglasses, activity sheets and soft toy.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Second-hand Bookshop)
- Leave the visitor reception area with the accessible car park on the left.
Continue up the path and between the two buildings you will pass the stepped entrance to the bookshop.
Continue until you reach the T-junction and turn left.
At the end of this path turn left into the area signed 'Farm Buildings'.
Once in this courtyard, turn left again between the two large buildings and go past the picnic area.
The rear ramped entrance is at the end of this area. - The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and concrete.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.
Entrance (Ramped)
- The entrance surveyed is located in the courtyard area.
- There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
- The steep ramp is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There are double manual doors which are permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 170cm.
Entrance (Stepped)
- The entrance surveyed is located between the shop and the accessible car park.
- There is stepped access at the entrance.
- There are 3 steps, which are unmarked, with handrails on both sides.
- The handrails do not cover all steps.
- All of the steps are not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
- There is a single manual door which is permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 100cm.
- There is a second manual door which is permanently open.
- The width of the opening is 115cm.
- The handrail is at the second entrance door steps.
Shop
- The majority of aisle widths are under 150cm.
- Some flooring in the shop is smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to carpet.
