Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, sunglasses, activity sheets and soft toy.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (the Kitchen Garden)
- Leave the visitor reception area and go up the path towards the shop with the accessible car park on the left.
At the T-junction turn right.
Continue for approximately 70 metres until you reach a path on the right.
The entrance to the garden will be on the right, opposite the tennis court. - The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and concrete.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.
Outdoor Spaces
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- The access points to the area are located opposite the tennis court and also off the path opposite the visitor reception.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
- The width of the gap is 110cm.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: block paving, compact earth and loose stones.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor spaces.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are less than 3 steps without handrails in the main areas.
- There are 2 steps without handrails to a small area of the garden.
- There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
