Access Guide
Summary
- View information about opening hours.
- The most accessible entrance has step-free level access and gates.
- This entrance is at the front left of Court House.
- There is not a member of staff available for help and assistance.
- Staff/volunteers can describe the layout and access around the site.
- The following are also available: seating and on site-transport.
- This site is not part of the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme.

Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, sunglasses, activity sheets and soft toy.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (East Orchard and South Lawn)
- Leave the visitor reception area and go up the path towards the shop with the accessible car park on the left.
At the T-junction turn right.
Continue for approximately 150 metres until you reach a crossroads and can see Court House on the right.
Turn right towards Court House.
Before you reach Court House, turn left and the gates to East Orchard will be there. - The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and concrete.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.
Outdoor Spaces
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- The access points to the area are located at the front left of Court House and via the walled garden.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: woodland and gardens.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, block paving and compact earth.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor spaces.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- There are slight slopes throughout some of the area.
- There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
- The paths have gates which may create obstacles for some users.
- All gates are permanently held open.
