Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, binoculars, magnifying glass, activity sheets, soft toy and accessible maps.
- You can borrow these from visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: an off-road/all-terrain mobility scooter. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

Route to (the Grounds)
- After exiting the visitor reception entrance, turn right and pass through the archway to the car park.
The grounds surrounding the house begin here and follow the house around to the right. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces (Grounds)
- This information is for the access point located at the car park archway.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: parkland and gardens.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and gravel.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are more than 3 steps with handrails in the main areas.
- The steps are located to the rear right of the house, leading down to the rear of the rose garden.
- There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Route to (the Orchard)
- After exiting the visitor reception entrance, turn right and pass through the archway to the car park.
Beyond the archway turn left through the gates to the orchard. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces (Orchard)
- This information is for the access point located to the left from the car park archway.
- Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: woodland and gardens.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and compact earth.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- The slight slopes are along some of the paths.
- There are not any bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Route to (the Rose Garden)
- After exiting the visitor reception entrance, turn right and pass through the archway to the car park.
Beyond the archway continue along the side of the house, then turn right and pass the front of the house towards the trees.
Take the path to the left of the tall trees, and the rose garden is on the right.
The far side of the rose garden can also be reached by taking the path to the rear side of Ardress House, although there are steps on the path down to it. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.

- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces (Rose Garden)
- This information is for the access point located to the left of the garden.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens towards you (pull).
- The gate is self-closing.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
