Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs and a mountain trike. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys and sunglasses.
- You can borrow these from the Visitor Reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: mobility scooters. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

Route to (Winter Garden and Skylight Garden)
- There is a path leading from the visitor reception to the Winter Garden and Skylight Garden.
After exiting the visitor reception, turn right to enter the Winter Garden follow the path and the Skylight Garden is on the left. - The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are bonded gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces (Winter Garden)
- This information is for the access point located to the right after exiting the visitor reception.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: bonded gravel.
- Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- There is a steep slope located on the path near Dahlia Gardens, coming from the house.
- There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Outdoor Spaces (Skylight Garden)
- This information is for the access point located to the right from the visitor reception and on the left of the path in the Winter Garden.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There is open access at the surveyed access point.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass.
- Footpaths are not available in all of the outdoor space.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- There are not any bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
Picnic Area (Heritage Orchard)
- The following information describes the picnic area located off the Winter Garden path.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There are coffee tables, tables, armchairs, sofas and picnic tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are available.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 74cm.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 79cm.
- The surface height of the lowest table is 54cm.
- The following furniture is permanently fixed: some of the chairs.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to grass and loose chippings.
