Hikes and Trails (Selborne - The Lythe Butterfly Walk)

  • The walk is approximately 2 miles.
  • The walk begins from the Selborne Church graveyard via a kissing gate. The path then descends steeply to Oakhanger Stream over which is a small bridge with a 22cm gap. From there the path rises and falls through beech woods and open pastures. The width of the pathway ranges between 80cm and 200 cm.
  • The hike is open 24 hours.
  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: grass, compacted gravel and mud.
  • Some of the route contains steep gradients and very uneven surfaces.
  • These are found in the following areas: at various points along the pathway.
  • There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
