  • This is an open air car park with a tarmac and grass surface.
  • Parking is free for National Trust members and Blue Badge holders, but charges apply for all other visitors.
  • There are clearly presented payment signs.
  • Maps and information boards are available.
  • There are 7 Blue Badge parking bays.
  • The dimensions of the designated Blue Badge parking bay(s) surveyed are 220cm x 505cm.
  • There is no hatched zone.
  • Obstacles from the car park include: uneven surfaces, grass, dropped kerbs and a road crossing.
  • There are not parent and child parking bays available.
  • There is not a designated drop-off point.
  • There are two additional Blue Badge parking bays to the right-hand side of the café and toilet block, as shown in the photographs, which are approximately 25 metres from the accessible toilet entrance. The EV charger is currently out of order.

Picnic Area (Car Park)

  • The following information describes the picnic area located within the car park.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There are picnic tables.
  • No chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • Adapted picnic tables are available.
  • The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 71cm.
  • The surface height of the lowest table is 74cm.
  • The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the tables.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to grass and loose chippings.

Toilet with Adaptations (Lane - Ambulant - Right Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located off the lane, on your left-hand side after you pass the café on your left.
  • Access into the toilet is via a slight ramp/slope (which bypasses any steps).
  • The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is 1 step, which is unmarked, with no handrails.
  • This toilet is approximately 35m from the café entrance.
  • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 80cm.
  • The door has a locking handle.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 188cm x 290cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located at the bottom of the lane, once you turn left out of the additional accessible car parking.
  • Access into the area is via slight ramps/slopes.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide.
  • This is an open gap at the surveyed access point.
  • The width of the gap is 115cm.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: open countryside.
  • The outdoor facilities also include: coastal path.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, bonded gravel, compact earth and loose stones.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no step-free level access around the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails and steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
  • Throughout the outdoor space, there are slight and steep gradients to overcome.
  • There are not any bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
  • The paths have gates which may create obstacles for some users.

Hikes and Trails (Mere and Coast Walk)

  • The walk is approximately 1.4 miles.
  • Leaving the additional accessible car park, turn left along the gravel path.
    Taking another left turn through the first gate, you will start the loop, which takes you through open countryside and along the coastal path, turning right through the next gate to complete the loop by heading back through open countryside and eventually joining the gravel path, which takes you back to the car park.
  • The walk is open 24 hours.
  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: loose chippings, grass, gravel, compacted gravel and mud.
  • Some of the route contains steps and very uneven surfaces.
  • These are found in the following areas: there are multiple steps to overcome towards the first half of the loop after passing through the gates.
  • There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
  • The route is clearly signposted.
  • Seating is not available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.
