Hikes and Trails (Beach)

    Follow this path, zig zagging down the slopes to the beach.
    This is an out and back route.
  • The hike is open 24 hours.
  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: gravel.
  • Some of the route contains steep gradients and very uneven surfaces.
  • These are found in the following areas: all the way down to the beach.
  • There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.

Beach

  • Access to the beach is via steep ramps/slopes.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is not a lifeguard for the beach.
  • The beach surface is made up of large rocks, large pebbles, shingle and sand and is not accessible to wheelchair users.
    Check tide times as high tide effects access to and from the beach.
    There is a gate to access the beach at the end of the step-free route detailed in this guide. The step-free route to the beach includes very steep slopes, uneven terrain, loose stones and gully's in parts of the path.

Toilet with Adaptations (Car Park - Ambulant - Right Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located in the car park.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 94cm.

  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
