Admissions

  • At this location the following areas are free to access for National Trust members but payable for everyone else: access to the formal gardens.

Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • Equipment cannot be borrowed or hired.
  • You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: a mobility scooter. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

Visitor Reception

  • Access into the area is via steps and a steep ramp/slope (which bypasses any steps).
  • The ramp is under 75cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There are 2 steps, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 154cm.
  • Internally the door has a medium colour contrast.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • There is room for wheelchair users to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) throughout the area.
  • Some of the flooring is smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to carpet (deep pile).
  • Some of the flooring has a very shiny finish, which could cause issues with glare or look slippery to some people.
  • There is step-free level access to the counter.
  • The height of the counter is 72cm.
  • The counter does not have a hearing assistance system.
  • There are tables available in the visitor reception.

  • The outdoor facilities also include: a vegetable garden and greenhouse.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: cobbled, wood bark, grass, block paving, gravel and uncompacted earth.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails, steep ramps/slopes without handrails, less than 3 steps without handrails and more than 3 steps without handrails in the main areas.
