Public Transport

  • The closest train stations are Grange 6 miles (9.5km) and Windermere 8 miles (13km). If you are traveling on the West Coast Main Line, take a train from Oxenholme-the-Lake District to Windermere station. Fell Foot Park is just a short bus ride.   • There are 2 all-terrain mountain trikes available; 1 manual and 1 electric assisted.
    Please email the venue at least 48 hours before arrival so that staff can prepare them, and also inform you about pick up points and the collection process.
    Both wheelchairs are free to hire, however, donations are welcome.

Toilet with Adaptations (Main Car Park)

  • This toilet is located to the right of the car park.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • This toilet is approximately 10m from the car park.
  • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 97cm.
  • The door has a sliding bolt lock.
  • Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 144cm x 176cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
  • The lateral transfer space is 81cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a lever flush on top of the cistern.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and a vertical rail on the right side of the wash basin.

Entrance (Boathouse Cafe)

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the Boathouse cafe.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There is a single manual door which opens away from you.
  • The width of the opening is 101cm.

Eating and Drinking (Cafe)

  • This is a café which serves hot and cold meals and snacks.
  • There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
  • Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
  • Menu types include: written wall menus.
  • Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
  • There is a clearly signed hearing assistance system.

Changing Places (Boathouse Cafe)

    • The facility is additional to standard and accessible toilets, and is located close to other managed facilities.
    • There is a sign at the entrance to the Changing Places facility indicating the location of the nearest toilets and baby changing facilities.
    • There is step-free level access into the facility.
    • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
    • A RADAR key is required for access to this facility.
    • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
    • The width of the door opening is 114cm.
    • The door has a locking handle.
    • Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
    • The door does not have a horizontal grab rail.
    • The dimensions of the facility are 360cm x 292cm.
    • The ceiling height is not at a minimum height of 2.4m and there is a clear 200cm x 180cm manoeuvring space in the facility.
    • The facility has a non-slip floor.
  • Toilet Details View
    • There are lateral transfer spaces on both sides of the seat but the right side is obstructed.
    • The transfer space on the left as you face the toilet is 80cm.
    • The following grab rails are available: a vertical grab rail on the left as you face the toilet.
    • There is a dropdown rail on both sides of the seat.

    • The changing places hoist is powered overhead and covers all areas in the cubicle.

Outdoor Spaces

  • There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.

    • There is a route around the play equipment which is not firm and even, but is over 150cm wide.
