Parking

  • This site does not have a car park.
  • There is a designated drop-off point which is flush to the footpath.
  • The nearest parking is at Shorne Woods Country Park, Cobham Village Sports Ground, or Ashenbank Wood.
    Visitors can be dropped off right outside the Lodge Lane access point.

Outdoor Spaces

  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • The access points to the area are located to the west of the site, at the end of Lodge Lane and along various public rights of way around the site.
  • There is a kissing gate at the surveyed access point.
  • The gate is self-closing.
  • The width of the gap is 112cm.
  • From this access point, there is a 700-metre walk along an asphalt farm track (which may be muddy), before there is another similar kissing gate to access the actual National Trust site containing the mausoleum.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: woodland.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: loose chippings, grass, bonded gravel, compact earth, uncompacted earth and loose stones.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor spaces.

  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails and steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.

Entrance (Mausoleum - Upper Level)

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the mausoleum.
  • There is stepped access at the entrance.
  • There are 10+ steps, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
  • All of the steps are not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
  • There is a single manual door which opens towards you.
  • The width of the opening is 95cm.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of more than 1.5cm.
  • The mausoleum is only open seasonally.
    At other times, the doors will be locked.

Attraction / Exhibit (Mausoleum - Upper Level)

  • The majority of walkway widths are over 180cm.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
  • The exhibits do not have hearing assistance systems.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • All flooring in the area is smooth and even.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.

Picnic Area (South Lodge Barn)

  • No chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • Adapted picnic tables are not available.
  • The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 70cm.
  • The surface height of the highest table is 73cm.
  • The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the tables and seating which is fixed to tables.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to grass.

Event Space (South Lodge Barn)

  • Access into the activity area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.

  • Internally the door has a low colour contrast.

Toilet with Adaptations (South Lodge Barn - Left Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located to the left from the South Barn Lodge entrance.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • This toilet is approximately 5m from the South Barn Lodge entrance.
  • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 86cm.
  • The door has a twist lock.
  • Internally the door has a medium colour contrast.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 145cm x 266cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat.
  • The lateral transfer space is 68cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a spatula flush on the transfer side.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
