Hikes and Trails (Chillerton Down Circular Walk)

  • The walk is approximately 4.5 miles long.
  • The walk is circular commencing from the layby on Berry Shute.
    The pathway climbs up the hillside to the transmitter site through high grass and a very steep slope.
    The walk then follows the ridge around the transmitter site before moving through a copse as it descends on the far side of the transmitter site.
    The path then begins the steep climb back to the summit from the far side.
    From the summit, the path descends and re-joins the path from the layby.
  • The walk is open 24 hours.
  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: tarmac, loose chippings, grass and gravel.
  • Some of the route contains steep gradients and very uneven surfaces.
