Hikes and Trails (Pen Y Fan - Pont Ar Daf Car Park)

  • The hike is approximately 4 miles.
  • The hike starts at Pont ar Daf car park with a steep decline to begin the walk before the long and steep incline to climb until you reach the peak of Pen Y Fan. The hike is approximately 2 miles up and 2 miles down. There are uneven surfaces throughout the hike.
  • The hike is open 24 hours.
  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: tarmac, cobbled, grass, compacted gravel and mud.
  • Some of the route contains steep gradients and steps.
  • These are found in the following areas: There are steps throughout the climb up to Pen Y Fan as well as very steep gradients heading up and on the route back down after reaching Corn Du.
  • There are no alternative routes to avoid these areas.
  • The route is not clearly signposted.
