Access Guide
Kitchen
- The kitchen is located on the right beyond the front entrance.
- There is step-free level access into the kitchen.
- The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the opening is 86cm.
- Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
- The door into this room does not have a minimum height of 200cm.
- The door height is 186cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the doorway with a height of less than 1.5cm.
- There is room for wheelchair users to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) throughout the kitchen.
- Facilities/features in the kitchen areas include; a fixed height sink, a fridge, a freezer, an oven, a hob, a dishwasher, a microwave, a kettle and a toaster.
- All flooring in the area is smooth and even.
- The area does not have a non-slip floor.
- The colour contrast between the floor and walls in the kitchen areas is high.
- Lighting levels were even at the time of the survey.
- The worktops/counters are at a height of 92cm.
- The counters/worktops have a less clear colour contrast to the wall, to the sink and to the hob.
- There are overhead and under counter cupboards/units available for worktops/counters.
- The cupboards/units have a less clear colour contrast to the floor.
- The cupboard/unit and fridge/freezer door handles are not easy to grip.
- The cupboard/unit, oven and fridge/freezer door handles have a low colour contrast.
- The sink tap types are twist turn mixer.
- There are a mixture of chairs with and without armrests available in the kitchen.

Lounge (/ Dining Room)

- The laundry room has a key hole and a key safe.
- There is room for wheelchair users to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) throughout the room.
- The following are available with controls at a recommended height for a seated user (between 75cm - 120cm): washing machines and dryers.
- There is space for a wheelchair user to wait within the laundry room.
- Some flooring is smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to uneven paving/tiles.

Stairs
- The floors which are accessible by stairs are G, 1.
