Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys and communication cards.

  • You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: a tramper and a mobility scooter. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

Route to (the Kitchen Garden)

  • Exit the visitor reception and proceed ahead via the picnic area to the left.
    Proceed ahead and up a slope to the left.
    At the top of the slope is the gated archway to the garden.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, gravel, muddy and paving stones.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located off the picnic area.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
  • The width of the gap is 120cm.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are more than 3 steps with handrails in the main areas .
  • The steps are located between the lower and upper level of the garden.
  • There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
