Equipment and Resources to Borrow

Route to (the Barnyard Picnic Area)

  • Exit from the visitor reception and shop exit door and turn right, proceed up a slight slope and the picnic area is ahead.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are gravel, muddy and paving stones.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Picnic Area

  • The following information describes the picnic area located to the rear of the visitor reception and shop.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There are picnic tables.
  • No chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • Adapted picnic tables are available.
  • The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 73cm.
  • The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to gravel.

Toilet with Adaptations (Barnyard - Accessible - Left Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located within the toilet block in the picnic area.
  • Access into the toilet is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 92cm.
  • The door has a lever twist lock.
  • Internally the door has a high colour contrast.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 255cm x 180cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat but it is obstructed.
  • The lateral transfer space is 200cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a lever flush on the non transfer side.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side and a vertical grab rail on the transfer side.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
