Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs and mountain trikes. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, binoculars, magnifying glass and torch.
- You can borrow these from Visitor Reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
- Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.
Route to (Wild Garden)
- Exit Visitor Reception and head right.
Turn left into the Top Garden.
Follow the path to the left, then to the right when it turns towards the house.
Continue ahead into the Walled Garden.
Turn left at the centre of the Walled Garden.
Turn right on exiting the Walled Garden.
Follow the curved path all the way round the Walled Garden, to the gate opening on the road.
The entrance to the Wild Garden is on the opposite side of the road. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and bonded gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Outdoor Spaces
- This information is for the access point located across the road from Nymans, facing the House.
- Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens towards you (pull).
- The gate is not self-closing.
- The gate has a latch lock.
- The following outdoor facilities are available: woodland and gardens.
- The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass, compact earth and uncompacted earth.
- Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor spaces.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no step-free level access around the area.
- There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails and steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas.
- There are slight and steep slopes throughout.
- There are some bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
