- The exit has step-free level access and a door permanently held open.
Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, magnifying glass and soft toy.

- You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: mobility scooters. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

Route to (The Courtyard Café)
- From the stables car park, head towards the stables.
Enter the stables via the arched entrance, then turn right.
Continue past the outside seating area, and the café is on the right. - The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and paving stones.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.
- The visitor shuttle can carry a folded wheelchair, but there is a step up to the seating area.
Entrance
- The entrance surveyed is located at the front left of the café.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- There is a single manual door which opens away from you.
- The width of the opening is 91cm.
Eating and Drinking
- This is a café which serves hot and cold meals and snacks.
- There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
- Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
- Menu types include: handheld menus and written wall menus.
- Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
- The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, two handled cups, easy grip cutlery, takeaway cutlery and a portable card machine for payment.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There is background noise here which varies, depending on the time of day.
- There is a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
- The hearing assistance system was tested and working at the time of the survey.
- There is a counter over 85cm high with a tray rail.
- The counter is 92cm high.
- There is not a section of the counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- There is step-free level access around the seating area.
- There are tables, bench seats and chairs without armrests available in the seating area.
- The seating area does not have: a priority table and a mixture of chairs with and without armrests.
- There are some tables which are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- The surface height of the tables is 73cm.

Picnic Area
- The following information describes the picnic area located in the courtyard outside the café.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There are tables.
- All chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are not available.
- The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 68cm.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- Some of the surface in the picnic area in the area is smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to uneven paving/tiles.

- The facility is additional to standard and accessible toilets, and is located close to other managed facilities.
- Access into the facility is via a slight ramp/slope.
- The slope is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 86cm.
- The door has a lever twist lock.
- Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
- The door does not have a horizontal grab rail.
- The dimensions of the facility are 374cm x 298cm.
- The ceiling height is at a minimum height of 2.4m and there is a clear 200cm x 180cm manoeuvring space in the facility.
- The facility has a non-slip floor.

- There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat.
- The transfer space on the left as you face the toilet is 195cm.
- The following grab rails are available: a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.

- The following have a high colour contrast with their surroundings: the internal door and the floor.
