- There is a pavilion selling refreshments, and a marquee where seating is provided.
Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys and soft toy.

- You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: trampers. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

- There are charges to borrow trampers.
- To borrow the trampers you have to be a member of the Access Mobility or you can join for the day.
Route to (Tea Pavilion)
- From the visitor centre continue straight ahead through the two gates. Then follow the path to the right and pass through the pedestrian gate to the left of the cattle grid. Continue straight ahead past Newark House and then take the first right to the pavilion.
- The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are bonded gravel.
- The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Entrance (To Picnic Area)
- The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the tent.
- There is stepped access at the entrance.
- There is 1 step, which is unmarked, with no handrails.
- The step is not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
- There are double manual doors which opens towards you.
- The width of the opening is 166cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance with a height of more than 1.5cm.
Eating and Drinking
- This is a kiosk which serves hot and cold snacks.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
- Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
- Menu types include: written wall menus.
- Menus are not easy to read (unclear font with poorly contrasting colours).
- The following are available here: two handled cups and large-handled cutlery.
- Lighting levels are varied.
- There is no (or very little) background noise here.
- There is a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
- The hearing assistance system was tested and working at the time of the survey.
- There is a counter under 85cm high without a tray rail.
- The counter is 94cm high.
- There is a section of the counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
Picnic Area
- The following information describes the picnic area located left and in front of the food kiosk.
- There is step-free level access into the area.
- There are tables and picnic tables.
- Some chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are available.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 67cm.
- The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 73cm.
- The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 67cm.
- There is step-free level access around the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to grass and loose chippings.
- The marquee provides indoor picnic seating.
