Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs and a mountain trike. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys and soft toy.

Route to (the West Garden and Orangery)

  • From the Visitor Reception (car park) continue through the car park along the path towards the Hall and Courtyard.
    At the signpost take the right path and then the left path.
    The entrance to the West Garden and Orangery is ahead.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth and bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces (West Garden and Orangery)

  • This information is for the access point located to the right behind the Courtyard.
  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • The access points to the area are located on the right of the Walled Garden and Orangery.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
  • The width of the gap is 167cm.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: gardens.
  • The outdoor facilities also include: an Orangery.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
