Public Transport

Route to (Northey Island)

  • The island is accessed via a tidal causeway which is covered for approximately 3 hours either side of high tide.
    Please check Maldon tide times when planning a visit.
    From the boating lake follow the England Coast Path south eastwards towards the sea wall.
    Follow the sea wall path next to the wire mesh fence to the Island's tidal causeway.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth, gravel and grass.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Parking

  • This site does not have a car park.
  • There is not a designated drop-off point.
  • Parking is recommended at Promenade Park Maldon CM9 5UR, approximately 1km away from the Causeway along the sea wall.
    Toilets and refreshments are available there.

  • Access into the area is via a slight ramp/slope and a steep ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • The access points to the area are located to the right of the path.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens away from you (push).
  • The gate is not self-closing.
  • The gate has a latch lock.
  • The width of the gap is 126cm.
